HON GBENU VISITS VICTIMS OF CUSTOMS SHOOTING IN HOSPITAL
The Executive Chairman of Badagry-West LCDA, Hon. Gbenu Joseph Henugbe, Executive Chairman of Badagry on Sunday visited the victims of the customs sporadic shootings at Joforo community in Badagry West.
On the spot assessment, revealed that five persons affected by the stray bullets and collapsed building shut down by men of the Nigeria Customs are presently receiving treatment at Godswill Trado Medical Hospital and Peace Lover Hospital all in Joforo community.
Gbenu condemned the act of shooting at innocent citizens by the officers of the Nigeria Customs and sympathised with the families of the victims.
The chairman promised to support the victims with the payment of their hospital bills and also commended residents of the community for allowing peace to reign.
One of the victims, Mr. Ebenezer Wusu, a fisherman said he was on his way to the sea to catch some fish when the bullet hit him on the leg.
Another, victim, a carpenter affirmed that this would be the third time the customs will be invading Joforo community.
“I heard the noise thief, thief and decided to come out, but later noticed it was the customs, later I started hearing gun shots, I did not even noticed I’ve been hit by the bullet until I saw blood gushing out of my body,” he said.
Mr. Julius, the Youth Leader of Joforo said the driver of the Hilux vehicle brought by the Customs hit him to the wall with the car which affected his leg and arm.
He appealed to the chairman to warn the men of the customs to stop invading their land.
Hon. Adeniran Cosmas , Councilor representing Ward C where the incident happened said “It’s an act of un-professionalism on the part of the Nigeria customs to start shooting at the citizens sporadically.
Report has it that the council chairman, Hon. Gbenu has started conversation with the Controller of Customs, Seme, Comptroller Dera Nandi, on how best to curb this unfortunate incident.
